What we buy

Silver in every form we can weigh.

A single Eagle, a coffee can of pre-1965 quarters, or a lifetime of tubes and albums. Bullion is priced against live spot; collectible pieces on their own merits.

American Silver Eagles

One troy ounce of .999 silver each, any year, in tubes, monster boxes or singles.

90% U.S. silver coins

Dimes, quarters and half dollars dated 1964 and earlier. Common dates are bought on silver content, so condition does not matter.

Silver rounds and bars

Private-mint rounds and refinery bars of any weight, from 1 oz to 100 oz.

How silver is counted

The silver inside common U.S. coins.

Bullion silver is simple: a Silver Eagle or a 1 oz round is one troy ounce of .999 silver. Older U.S. coinage takes a little arithmetic, and these are the standard figures a dealer works from.

90% silver (pre-1965)

Every $1 of face value in dimes, quarters or halves contains about 0.7234 troy oz of silver when new. A $10 face-value roll of quarters is roughly 7.2 oz.

Morgan and Peace dollars

About 0.7734 troy oz of silver in each dollar coin.

40% Kennedy halves (1965 to 1970)

About 0.1479 troy oz of silver each.

War nickels (1942 to 1945)

35% silver, about 0.0563 troy oz each. Look for the large mintmark above Monticello.

The homepage has a free melt value calculator that does this arithmetic at live spot for common silver and gold coins. Melt value is a reference, not an offer; every piece is weighed, tested and quoted in the shop.

Before you come in

Two things worth knowing.

Do not clean your coins

Tarnish does not reduce the value of bullion silver, and cleaning can strip the collector value from a coin that had some. Bring everything exactly as it is.

Bring a photo ID

Colorado requires precious metal dealers to record the seller's government ID for every purchase from the public. A driver's license is all it takes.

Sterling, flatware and scrap

We focus on coins, rounds and bars. Call (303) 578-8288 before bringing sterling or scrap so we can tell you whether it is something we buy.

Questions we hear

Sell Silver FAQ.

Should I clean or polish silver before bringing it in?

No. Tarnish does not reduce the value of bullion silver, and cleaning can destroy the collector value of a coin that had some. Bring it as-is.

How are 90% silver coins priced?

Common-date pre-1965 dimes, quarters and halves are bought on silver content: about 0.7234 troy oz per $1 of face value, priced against the live spot price the day you visit. Key dates and high-grade pieces are evaluated separately.

Do you buy single coins?

Yes. Bring in a single piece, an inheritance, or a lifelong collection.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday, 11am to 4:30pm. For a large lot, a quick call ahead at (303) 578-8288 helps us plan around it.

Do you buy sterling silver or scrap?

We focus on coins, rounds and bars. Call before you bring sterling or scrap and we will tell you whether it is something we buy.

Do you pay cash?

Cash is the usual way a transaction is settled, and a single ounce of gold is routinely paid out in cash on the spot. For a larger amount it depends on how much cash is in the shop that day, so a bigger payout may be written as a check instead, and those clear quickly. If you are bringing in a large lot, call ahead at (303) 578-8288 and we will tell you what to expect.
